Blood Roses: A Cycle of Souls

Stumpf delivers a deluge of red-soaked and encrusted objects onto surfaces where the death and rebirth of the feminine are invoked.

The provocative subjects Stumpf exhumes are the victims of Jack the Ripper, the women who were tortured and killed during the Inquisitions, and the baby girls lost to female infanticide.

Each of the paintings was paired and caressed with a poem by Pablo Neruda, almost as a salve.

Complete works: 7 mixed media paintings and 13 drawings.
